The world is on pause

The human world is on pause.  However, around me the animals and the insects continue their daily life.  Last spring I heard a frog croaking every night, each night in my bed I listened and did not fall asleep until I heard it.  This year I have a whole choir of frogs, in fact there are several choirs, they croak every night and every morning. Their loud songs are the background noise for the hope they represent, life goes on and even better for them.  Where I live we have deer instead of cows and sheep, they watch humans pass by with curiosity, they are used to us and we to them. Brown back Chickadee have started to frequent the rhododendrons outside my kitchen window. It’s a pleasure to see them jump from branch to branch, sometimes they try to jump on a branch reflection in one of my window panes.

I feel like I live in a world where the hours have slowed down.  It’s like I’m a witness to the passing of time. If there was no calendar I would be hard pressed to know what date and day it is.  Life has slowed, the world that surrounds me is showing signs of growth. I always took the time to see what was around me, now everyone has access to this time of contemplation but only if they chose to do so.   I am lucky with where I live because nature is all around me. Here people go for walks without having problems keeping their distance. I see them from my windows, it gives me pleasure to see signs of human life, I see people in pairs or alone and some who walk their dog.  I also go out into my garden, I walk in the meadow and sometimes I venture on our roads, there are no sidewalks and little traffic. I share my confinement with my two daughters who returned from Europe before all the countries closed their borders. Their company is appreciated not only by me but especially by Balto our dog, and Prim, our cat.  I go out with my camera and I take note of the colors and budding trees that brighten my world.

The world is on pause but life continues at a pace that I like.
